Monkeypox virus (MPXV) causes monkey pox infection which is a zoonotic disease with symptoms presentation similar to smallpox. The has public health significance as it affects humans and animals worldwide. It usually self-limiting but may be acute in some people. Transmission occurs via exposure skin lesions, bodily fluids, or respiratory droplets of infected directly indirectly. clinical manifestation the includes prodromal illness fever, malaise, swollen lymph nodes, characteristic rash, chills and/or sweats, headache, sore throat, cough, backache shortness breath. incubation period between 7 14 days an upper limit 21 days. Laboratory diagnosis imperative requires advanced technical skills well-advanced laboratory methods. treatment mainly supportive there been no proven available over years. Tecovirimat new antiviral received approval still limited supply, however, use smallpox vaccine, cidofovir, ST-246, vaccinia immune globulin (VIG) have recommended management monkeypox outbreaks. Effective prevention depends on minimizing contact patients animals, practicing good hygienic habits after making humans, proper personal protective equipment (PPE) vaccination when unprotected occurs. However, therapeutics vaccines offer hope for monkeypox. There therefore, need future researches focus identifying its host factors that regulate transmission animals.
